FocusTide 1.7 released
Development

FocusTide 1.7 is out. This is a fairly minor release, but some of you might actually find it quite significant. One requested feature was to have a sound set that is better suited for sports. The current sounds are quite soft and long, which might hinder those who are doing high intensity interval training (HIIT) or similar activities. To address this, there is now a new set called Sharp, which more closely resembles whistles. It’s a bit more aggressive, and the sounds are shorter. They are also quite loud.

The rest of the changes are mostly updates to dependencies and bugfixes. Notably, issues around disabling dark mode and some PWA features have been fixed. You shouldn’t need to reload the app to return to the light from now on.

For the technically invested, the dependency updates include Nuxt 3.13.1 and Vite 5.4.11. The new Nuxt version is not the latest, though, as upgrading to 3.14 caused the app to break once again, as mentioned in the pull request. This is not uncommon, unfortunately, I’ve had to fight multiple undocumented breaking changes (e.g., regarding modules) or regressions in the past, and this time I just decided not to further debug the issue. Maybe I’ll revisit it in the future.

Still, I hope you’ll find the changes useful. If you have any feedback or potential use cases that could be better served with some changes, feel free to reach out on GitHub.
